September National Auto Sales Results

sales-upChrysler Group, GM and Nissan sat among the big winners in September, with each company achieving sales gains of 19 percent compared to the same month last year. Meanwhile, Subaru topped all three with a 30-percent jump amid strong demand for the new Legacy.

As expected, Jeep continued to post significant gains with overall brand sales up by 47 percent. Ram pickups were also up by 30 percent, though Chrysler’s car sales were down by 17 percent.

Nissan’s Rogue crossover continued to be a top seller, with an increase of 52 percent to 17,229 units, while the Leaf set a September record with 2,881 sales — up 48 percent. The Versa, Sentra and Murano were also hot items, with shipments up between 38 and 61 percent.

Some luxury brands continued to take advantage of the recovering market, with Acura up by 19 percent and Lincoln gaining by 13 percent, though Cadillac remained flat and Infiniti posted a 13-percent slide for the month. So here is how it all broke down by manufacturer, in alphabetical order.
