A U-Haul truck rented by the Secret Service to haul equipment in anticipation of Vice President Biden’s visit to Detroit has been recovered after being stolen, an agency spokesman tells the Detroit Free Press.
The truck was found in the parking lot of an apartment complex near Henry Ford Hospital, Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan tells the news organization.
The Detroit Police Department located the truck, Donovan says. Detroit Police Sgt. Eren Stevens confirms the find, and also tells the news organization there have been no arrests yet.
The truck vanished from outside a downtown Detroit Westin hotel sometime between late Saturday and early Sunday, ABC News reports.
Some of the Secret Service’s equipment was still in the truck when it was recovered. Donovan would not give the Free Press details about that equipment.
“Some of our property was there, but not all,” Donovan tells ABC News. “We are still assessing.”
Biden made a Labor Day speech to about 3,500 in downtown Detroit Monday, the Free Press reports.
