For all you truck lovers on a budget out there, Ford has some news you’ll like. You don’t necessarily have to go home with the base model, because the automaker is bringing back the more affordable STX trim.
The STX appearance package is now offered on the new aluminum 2017 F-150. Plus, for the first time, it’s available on the all-new 2017 Super Duty. It’s basically a step up from the base XL trim. It offers some exterior and interior enhancements without going significantly over the starting price.
So think of it as middle ground between the base XL and mid-level XLT models. You can order it now at dealers.
F-150 STX Trim
On the F-150, the STX appearance package adds on 20-inch aluminum wheels. They get some flare with dark gray-painted pockets. The grille goes black with a body-matching surround and black mesh insert. The fascia and bumpers also match the body.
Inside, there’s some added tech, too. You’ll get Ford’s new Sync 3 with its 8.0-inch touchscreen. It also adds privacy glass, black cloth seats, STX Sport box decal, fog lamps, and manual lumbar support on both front seats.
Both the F-150 SuperCab and SuperCrew will offer the package. You have your choice of three engines: a 2.7-liter EcoBoost, 5.0-liter V8 or 3.5-liter EcoBoost. The STX F-150 starts at $35,615.
Super Duty STX Trim
When it comes to the Super Duty (shown above), the STX trim adds a bright chrome grille with chrome front and rear step bumpers. The fender vent gets STX badging. The wheels are a special aluminum design. Cruise control gets mounted to the steering-wheel. It also throws in an AM/FM stereo system with a single CD/MP3 player.
The package is being offered across the entire Super Duty lineup, no matter what your engine choice, the 6.2-liter V8 gasoline or the 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel.
The F-250 STX starts at $34,910, while the F-350 STX starts at $36,080.
