Subaru is bringing back the Barkleys for its new round of “Dog Tested. Dog Approved” television spots.
New Barkleys TV Spots
The family of Labrador and Golden Retrievers appeared in four TV spots airing during this year’s Screen Actor’s Guild Awards. Two of them focused on the all-new Subaru Ascent, the three-row SUV the Barkley’s helped introduce last year.
In a humorous spin on what families go through, the new ads feature the Barkleys tackling parallel parking, the first day of school and even a doggy-run car wash. (In the fine print viewers are reminded it’s a dramatization and to always secure their pets.)
Why the continuing focus on man’s best friend? It’s simple. Subaru knows its target audience.
“With more than half of Subaru drivers having pets, we believe it is important to celebrate the love of pets shared by our owners,” said Alan Bethke, senior vice president, marketing at Subaru of America. “Pets are considered members of our Subaru family and utilizing the Barkleys in our campaigns allows us to connect with our customers in an authentic, fun, and entertaining way.”
