SUV. Convertible. SUV. Convertible. If you simply can’t make up your mind, never fear, Land Rover has it all figured out for you with its all-new Range Rover Evoque convertible. The automaker bills it as the world’s first ever luxury SUV convertible and it’s almost ready to see the light of day, three years after first being introduced as a the concept.
Newly released video shows the ragtop going through its paces at Land Rover’s all-terrain testing ground in the UK. Land Rover says it completed development and testing with “flying colors” and calls it the most “capable convertible in the world.” While the SUV is camouflaged both in the video and photos, we can tell it stays pretty true to the concept model rolled out at the Geneva Auto Show in 2012.
“Land Rover prides itself on being a class leader when it comes to all-terrain capability and the Evoque Convertible is no different,” says Mike Cross, Land Rover Chief Engineer, Vehicle Integrity. “Thanks to a combination of innovative engineering and the application of advanced technologies, Evoque Convertible will deliver a dynamic and assured SUV experience that has been tested around the world. We call it ‘The Convertible for all Seasons’.”
It will go on sale next spring after making its public debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show this coming November.
