Forty-nine journalists at the recent Texas Auto Roundup voted the ferocious 2013 Nissan GT-R as the Car of Texas and the utilitarian Chrysler Town and Country as the Family Car of Texas.
In the event, staged by the Texas Auto Writers Association, the writers drove and judged 58 vehicles at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. I am a member of the group, but was unable to attend.
“Performance figured heavily in the Car of Texas category,” Texas Auto Writers Association president Michael Herzing said of the 545-horsepower GT-R.
Other winners included:
Compact Car of Texas: 2013 Dodge Dart
Midsize Car of Texas: 2012 Buick Regal GS
Full-size Car of Texas: 2012 Buick LaCrosse eAssist
Performance Compact of Texas: 2013 Subaru BRZ
Performance Coupe of Texas: 2013 Ford Mustang GT
