Toyota is making some big tech announcements at this year’s Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show. They include adding Amazon Alexa to its lineup and the debut of the e-Palette concept.
Toyota Adds Alexa to Lineup
Amazon’s intelligent cloud-based voice service will be integrated into certain Toyota and Lexus vehicles in 2018. Alexa will be incorporated into the Toyota Entune 3.0 App Suite along with the Lexus Enform App Suite 2.0. More models will be available with the feature in 2019.
Drivers can talk to Alexa and ask for directions, control entertainment, get the news, add items to shopping lists and more. They can also use Alexa to interact with their smart home.
Toyota also rolled out its new e-Palette concept. It is a fully-automated futuristic vehicle that Toyota dubs a next-generation battery electric vehicle (BEV).
The e-Palette is designed to be an open-platform mobile retail space. Essentially, it’s designed for companies like Pizza Hut, Uber, Mazda, and Amazon to use for e-commerce. At least those are its current partners in the new venture.
According to CNBC, Toyota will debut the e-Palette at the Olympics in 2020.
