Buick Introduces 2018 Regal Sportback GS

Buick Introduces 2018 Regal Sportback GS

No more plain Jane sedan for the Buick Regal. Earlier this year Buick announced it will replace the four-door sedan with a wagon and a hatchback version for its 2018 redesign. Now it’s telling us just how much those styling choices cost and introducing the performance GS version.

Pricing wise, the 2018 Regal base model will cost a couple grand less over the 2017 model. The entry level 5-door Sportback starts at $25,915, that’s about $2k less than last year’s model. At the same time, it doubles the storage room.

The top-of-the-line GS Sportback with the V6 option starts at $39,990. The 3.6-liter engine boasts 310-horsepower, 51 more than 2017, with 282 lb-ft torque. Buick said that’s more power than Acura’s TLX A-Spec and Lexus’ IS 350F-Sport. It comes standard with start/stop technology, which we’re not huge fans of, so hopefully, there will be a turn off option.

From what we can tell, the GS is the way to go if you want to put the Sport in Sportback. Its standard performance features include sport-tuned suspension with Continuous Damping Control, sport-tuned dual exhaust, front Brembo brakes, 9-speed auto transmission, and intelligent all-wheel drive.

More visual performance touches on the GS are a heating flat-bottom steering wheel, sports seats, metal pedals, 19-inch wheels, sport front and rear designs, side skirts, and rear spoiler.

The sport seats aren’t your average joe sport car seats. The connected headrest gives that sporty visual appeal. The seats lumbar and thigh bolsters are adjustable, heating and cooling come standard, along with messaging. Yes. The GS comes standard with massaging seats.

You can also relax with the GS Driver Confidence II package. It adds a full-color heads-up display, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Forward Automatic Braking.

If you opt to stick with the entry level model you’ll get a 2.0T engine. If you’re wanting a TourX wagon, a first for the Regal, it starts at $29,995. Wagons will only be arriving in a limited number this fall. The rest of should be arriving in February 2018.
