VIDEO: What To See At The Chicago Auto Show

Chicago Auto Show

The Car Pro is wrapping up a great few days at the Chicago Auto Show, the world’s biggest auto show. There is a ton to see here. Bottom line, this is a consumer show. People come here to shop for their next car and manufacturers are delivering on new things to see.

We’ve seen a couple different themes.  It’s a show for special editions like the Chevy Colorado GearOn, Hyundai Veloster Rally Edition and the 2015 Ram Laramie Limited. Family crossover SUV’s are also a big theme as they grow in popularity. Honda revealed the anticipated Honda Pilot, Acura brought out a refreshed Acura RDX , Chevy unveiled a slightly updated Chevy Equinox.

Concepts are big, too. Mitsubishi unveiled its GC-PHEV Concept and Kia brought the Trail’ster e-AWD Concept.  Meanwhile, Ford took the wraps off its new Chicago built Police Interceptor SUV with members of law enforcement looking on from the audience.

Family crossovers and special editions aren’t the only sights you’ll see. Luxury automakers are there in full force as well, so you’ll see vehicles from Maserati and Porsche, plus new sportsters like the the Acura NSX and Alfa Romeo 4C.

There’s really something for everyone, including a Dodge Charger Challenge Simulator for those with a need for speed. Jeep lovers can also take part in a ride and drive. Toyota offers a ride and drive, too.

Technology is also a big deal here, as more consumers put it on their wish lists for their next vehicles. The good news is that more and more technology and safety features are showing up in mainstream vehicles. They’re not just reserved for luxury models anymore. Collision Avoidance Systems are a big feature now offered by many automakers. Subaru showed off its EyeSight collision avoidance system which is pretty cool to see in action. It can pinpoint pedestrians and alert drivers to their presence.

The Chicago Auto Show is open to the public through February 22, 2015.
