Volkswagen is recalling approximately 281,000 vehicles due to a fuel pump issue that could cause an engine stall.
The recall involves 2009-16 model-year Volkswagen CC sedans, and 2006-10 model-year Passat sedans and wagons.
VW says the fuel pump could potentially fail in the recalled vehicles due to an electrical issue. Power to the fuel pump could be interrupted and cause the engine to stall. Dealers will replace the fuel pump control module for free.
Owners should hear from Volkswagen starting on Oct. 13. But repairs won’t start right away since parts aren’t immediately available.
Owners can call the automaker at 800-893-5298, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov to check their VIN and learn more.
